I’ve recently noticed quite a trend in food advertising, which I find quite disturbing; the apparent death-wish of a variety of foodstuffs. I guess I find it disturbing because it promotes the anthropomorphism of animals and plant-derived foods. And besides, if a pig was like us, why would it want to be eaten?

Then there was that Twix ad, about the two choc bars that were happier together, even if together meant that they were in someone’s stomach…

And now it’s the turn of the class Cadbury’s Cream Egg to declare its death-wish, this is my favourite one as it’s pretty clever, but there are some other ones below too, watch them if you think you’re ‘ard”

I’ve recently mentioned the money problems which I’ve experienced lately. Even though I made an arduous effort to cut down on my spending I still ended up being penalised again by my bank for going over my overdraft limit. (Though when I looked through my statement, it appears that they overcharged me last month so I’m going to have to sort them out tomorrow, but that’s another story.)

I personally prefer not to borrow money from friends or even family if I can help it; if I need extra cash I’d rather borrow it from a financial organisation so that it’s all straightforward and clear. (more…)
