Did you feel it?

Rippling Water

At about 1am this morning an earthquake measuring 5.2. on the Richter scale hit the UK, with its epicentre at 8km east of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

At that time I was laying on my bed and reading various blogs. I felt my bed shake very slightly, but thought I was imagining it. Then it happened again, and I looked around the room in alarm. It stopped, so I just went back to what I was doing.

I just saw the news reports about the quake. I’ve never experienced an earthquake before, and this is one of the last places that you’d expect to feel tremors, though the UK has had the odd tornado from time to time.

Freaky, eh?

I didn’t feel this one – the last time I felt an earthquake, it was the East Caribbean one back in November, and I was wondering why the beach was shaking.

I’ve felt shakes before – about 10 years ago or so, I felt the house jolt. It passed without remark or report, but I’m pretty sure that it was what I thought it was.

It’s oddly reassuring that it can’t be blamed on global warmingisation

I’m glad you are okay. I’ve been through a couple of very minor quakes but I get the feeling one of these days there is going to be a big one with my name on it.

So, the earth moved for you, huh?

That was the answer to the question: “How was it for you?” Aren’t I troublesome!?

The representation of quake using the “glass of water” was good and eye catching too… by the way where can I purchase those lovely blue glasses?

Dr M: you’re a force of nature in your own right, ain’t no earthquake gonna get you!

BlackMan: it was strange, very unsettling.

Bhumika: thanks for your comment. I found the pic on a website, but you could probably get a glass like that from Ikea or somewhere like that.
