Look Deep!

Friday, February 29th, 2008 | Posted in fun

According to some old traditions, women may propose to their men on 29 February. Some of you may be thinking of taking the initiative and going for that desire to solidify your relationship. If you are, I urge you to really think about it first.

warning: wedding

Everybody know that most marriages will end in divorce, but that doesn’t stop the hopeful ones from trying to beat the odds, bless them!

Recent research suggests that the often-quoted findings about married men being happier than single men, and single women being happier than married women is not entirely sound, but of course your man isn’t like all the rest, is he?

Sure he might be gorgeous now, but will you still love him when you’re both eighty? The chances are that you’ll outlive him, which might be the only thing to look forward to if you end up with the wrong bloke.

Is the sex good? If it’s not good already, you’re not going to have fireworks on the wedding night.

Do you have similar views on raising children and dealing with your finances? These are the things that can chip away at a marriage until there’s nothing left but hatred and bitter resentment.

Divorce Court

Judge Mablean Ephraim often says on her TV show Divorce Court: Look deep before you leap. She also says that it’s the little things that tend to break up a marriage, those insidious habits that annoy us each day. You may start to despise the way he demands sex when he comes home from the pub, or when he fails to remember your birthday.

Ask yourself: does he treat you like the goddess that you are?

Did you feel it?

Rippling Water

At about 1am this morning an earthquake measuring 5.2. on the Richter scale hit the UK, with its epicentre at 8km east of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

At that time I was laying on my bed and reading various blogs. I felt my bed shake very slightly, but thought I was imagining it. Then it happened again, and I looked around the room in alarm. It stopped, so I just went back to what I was doing.

I just saw the news reports about the quake. I’ve never experienced an earthquake before, and this is one of the last places that you’d expect to feel tremors, though the UK has had the odd tornado from time to time.

Freaky, eh?

Photographic

I haven’t been pursuing my photography consistently recently; my distance-learning course ends in the next few days and I feel like I’ve wasted that opportunity, but I should have known better than to enrol on it. I seem to prefer to learn things as and when I need them rather than following a prescribed course of study.

Still, I’ve made some progress, mainly due to having my pics hosted on flickr. Two of my photos were chosen for Schmap Guides to London and Paris, and someone whose photos I really admire invited me to join his group called THE EXTRAORDINARY PHOTOGRAPH.

Last week I ventured into central London again: Clapham, Battersea, Chelsea, Piccadilly, Charing Cross then Victoria. You’ll see that I also stopped at the Hard Rock Café too. While I was around Leicester Square and Charing Cross Rd I also took some pics for Splotchy’s new blog, which was fun. Here are some of the results.

On my travels I purchased this canvas pic of a sexy pair of lips, which is currently hanging above my desk.

Lips

And finally, a guy has offered to model for me, in response to item 62 on my 99 things:shock: Not like that, it’ll be all above board. So now I need to find a suitable studio to hire for a few hours next Sunday…

Cloverfield

I saw Cloverfield the other day, and thought that it was B-Movie heaven.

Who doesn’t love to see gorgeous people being attacked by evil creepies?
Who doesn’t love to watch a guy who puts his life and those of his friends’ in jeopardy to save a hot girl?
Who doesn’t love having a queasy stomach while watching an incessantly shaky viewpoint?
Who doesn’t love spotting the gaping plot holes, inconsistencies and predictable moments?
Who doesn’t love having little context in which to place the events of the movie, and no explanation for the monsters’ origins?
