My blog is having its first birthday today. It’s been an interesting year, and I’d like to thank everyone who has shared the ups and downs with me.
A few days ago I was considering ending the blog, or at least having a break from it, but it’s okay now – we’re friends again.

I’ve been nominated for some more of those blogging awards that have been going around blogland like a pox in the middle ages. It’s nice to know that someone hears your quiet whisper in this cacophonous world.
A.Writer has nominated me for a Creative Blogger Award. It’s funny cos I used to think of myself as such a creative person, but in recent months I’ve questioned that idea. Maybe I need to embrace my creative side again.

Here are my 5 nominees:
Becca – a talented artist and photographer.
Sophisticated Writer – cos she is.
Ben – a talented writer, with a sense of the aesthetic.
Nicholas – for Elijah (his debut novel)
Susan Helene Gottfried - for West of Mars – she’s a funny lass

Becca has decided to nominate me for the Thinking Blogger Award, which is my 2nd one now.

The participation rules are simple:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.
Here are my five nominations:
Lillian cos her life is not as mundane as she thinks
Dr Monkey cos he makes me laugh
I Buy Books cos I also buy lots of books
Nicholas cos he writes about all sort of stuff, and gets really mad (like the Hulk)
Evil Spock cos evil begets more evil

And the dastardly Dr M nominated me for a Schmooze Award (also my second one). After spraying his musky scent all over this blog I think I deserve that award plus a whole lot more from that sweaty simian. He had better start saving towards Christmas, that’s all I’m saying.

As it goes, schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello – all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”
Since I was a bit greedy the last time I got this award and nominated 7 people instead of the usual 5, I’m only going to nominate 300 3 more bloggers this time.
Their comments always make me smile:
Absolute Vanilla
Liane Spicer
Lillian (again)
