Which musical mode are you?

Aeolian Mode. Or just plain old Minor. All the “white keys” starting on A, and you’ve got a minor scale.

You have a dark sense of humor. You like to keep to yourself, finding social interaction rather difficult and draining, perhaps even boring. I found it so strange to see the usually bustling areas of town, such as Oxford Street and the South Bank, devoid of people. Actually, now I’m tempted to escape my family next Christmas day to enjoy my city without the crowds.

A fun game to play is to match up pairs of compatible ads. For instance, the attractive, young-at-heart 60 year old woman who is looking for a caring man aged 58-65, has several matches in the male ads. She doesn’t mention her size, so I’m going to eliminate Richard (59) who has requested a slim woman. I’ve got a few other possible options, but I like the sound of the “Outgoing widower, 62, likes walks, nights in, GSOH, seeks caring female for friendship/relationship.”

I bet that this guy has received loads of responses:

Short, fat, thick, spotty, ugly, unemployed single dad, early 40′s, good for nothing, seeks slim, busty, rich bird to cheat on.

And his match? Possibly the “Busty, blue eyed blonde, seeking special man who can show her a good time and make her smile again.”

If I were to write one of these ads I’d probably say: “Urban Recluse seeks a kind companion with a GSOH for fun and adventure.” I think that says it all, don’t you? What kind of ad would you write?

Is it bad luck to disturb a young black cat nibbling on crisps from an opened bag in the middle of the street?

As I approached it it grabbed a crisp in its mouth and dashed under a nearby parked car. I wished I had my camera.

Overnight the blog was overwhelmed by loads of spam, and I don’t know why the spam filter didn’t detect it all. I’ve removed it all now, but in response I’ve made a slight change to my commenting policy. Basically new commenters will have their first comment moderated by me before it will show up. I’m online a lot so it shouldn’t take more than a few hours or so to be approved.

If this proves unpopular or impractical I may opt for a captcha plugin, but I’d rather not as I hate using them on other blogs.

Update: I’m trying something else, a system which should block the majority of spammers. So there’s now no excuse for anyone not to comment.

Last Friday was this blog’s second birthday.

Leaving things so late I could only get a birthday cake which had originally been made for someone called Lila. It was the only cake that the shop had when I visited today.

I don’t think that Blog will mind since Blog likes cow print. Blog would have preferred a deeper shade of pink, but Blog will eat pink bits first. Blog would like to offer you all a slice of cake.

My bedroom is a tip, well my bed is anyway. I put loads of junk on it to force myself to organise it (i.e. hide it all in the bottom of the wardrobe) for the party tomorrow.

My cousin, M, sent me a text message saying that he’s looking forward to all the good food that’s going to be on offer. I’m glad that he’s coming, as he’s a very cool dude and an ally.
