The HTC Hero looks pretty good, a possible contender to the iPhone’s crown? I’ve been thinking of getting the HTC Magic, but I think I might hold out for this one.

I love this new advert by Volkswagen, The Fight, which is like a James Bond fight sequence. The concept, the music, and its entire execution just blew me away.

The voiceover at the end tells us: “Sometimes the only one you have to beat is yourself.” It’s so true, sometimes you can’t compare yourself or your work against someone or something else, you can only try to improve upon your own performance.

You can only seek to achieve your personal best. That’s what I intend to do in 2009, to work on improving my life (health, career, romance/fun) without feeling bad for not being like everyone else I know.

He is happy to do this in order to get on TV, but he ends up revealing more about himself than he’d planned. I particularly loved the moment when he comes across something that he’d meant to hide, and his monitor instantly turns red. The end was quite beautiful too.

While I was watching I wondered how it would be if we all wore one of those devices, if our moods and feelings were open for everyone else to see. Would it make life simpler, or more difficult?

I’d probably never use them for the sake of civility, but just knowing that I can whip out a card when faced with obnoxiousness would make me feel wonderfully omnipotent.
