I'm certainly a whole lot less stressed out although I make a lot less money than I used to. There are always trade offs, and there's no perfect situation, but you get to decide what is more important to you. Good for you, PJ! I’d like to echo the comments above. It was secure and paid well but it was sucking all my energy away and keeping me from my writing; I had this nagging feeling I should be elsewhere. Finally I gave notice and quit without a clear plan but a sense of doing the right thing. It worked out. After a bit of head clearing and rest I was able to find some writing work and to get moving on my novel again. I'm not making as much money as I was but I sure am happier.
