Thanks for sharing your trip with us, PJ. Love the photos! I’ve been ordering big, beautiful bars of Pre de Provence soap like the ones in the photo through Amazon and it’s such a guilty pleasure! And last night I ordered an Eiffel Tower charm for my bracelet. Coincidence, huh? I will get there one day!

As for your friend – I know how violated you must feel. My mother stayed with a close relative in New York a few years ago at the insistence of his wife – who proceeded to steal more than $1,000 from a handbag my mom left in the house. No one else could have taken it, although the in-law tried to blame it on a handyman who didn’t even have access to the room. It’s so very hard to process unconscionable acts like these; it’s easier if it’s a stranger, or anyone at all that we’re not programmed to trust.

We live and we learn. Glad you got a change of scene. We all need a break now and then.

Sounds like quite an eventful trip. I’d love to be able to travel more, but financial issues cut that short (and, I admit, I think about all of the walking with my weight issues and just cow down). I’m sorry things were so awkward; maybe booking the hotel would’ve cut down on the tension. What good is a vacation if you can’t relax a little, right? (I mean, I assume; I haven’t been out of this state in 9 years.) You know for next time.

As for the possibility of your “friend” stealing your money… nope, the idea of her doing it makes me too angry for a reasoned comment.

I live vicariously a bit through you when you go traveling. Thanks for the wonderful pictures and for writing about it.

Hey, welcome back PJ – sounds like you had an eventful holiday. Bizarre that a so-called friend would do something like that to you; pretty shitty really, when you think about it.

I hope you get a lot of comments on this, and I hope Mlle. Claudette reads them…

But you did get to see Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, which is something I’ve yet to do despite having been up there. The day I went, a fog closed in and reduced visibility to nil. Quel bummeur, eh?
