I really need to catch up classic Bond movies (buy Bond, get Bond free). BlackMan: thanks for your high praise. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't even attempt to review a movie, perhaps because I'm not your usual film buff, but I try to look at films from a storytelling and visual perspective, and just say what I feel. It may not be "correct" but it's just my humble opinion. Thanks so much for your appreciation (it means a lot to me). I'll try to keep up the good work! Hey Capt, I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. Sometimes when I'm reading the other reviews I get the impression these reviewers lack depth and sufficient knowledge or style to keep my interest going thought their long ramble. But with your reviews I'm there for every comma and when the ranking full stop eventually comes I feel a sense of disappointment ithas ended! I'll be back for the next review! I agree that you have to view Quantum of Solace as a direct continuation of Casino Royale - both movies are so unlike the 'traditional' Bond film style that a newcomer would need a "Previously - on James Bond..." intro to be able to keep up. That being said, I enjoyed both, and I'm pleased to see there's a replacement for SPECTRE in the form of Quantum - even down to codenames like 'Mr. White' and 'Mr. Greene' in place of 'Number One', etc. 007 needs an enemy of global proportions, and in the post-Bush era it's interesting to note the interests and designs the new group has for world control. Matthew Amalric was a villain in the Jonathan Pryce mode, but this Bond's victory over him (duh) was nicely ironic (see? no spoilers). I'm quite interested in how this new, 21st-Century Bond will fare, and whether the scars will heal. It's not better, it's different, and different is good. For me, Thunderball will always be the best Bond movie, bar none, but I keep an open mind. What will happen next? James Bond will return, after all...
