Food for thought
Monday, November 5th, 2007Stolen from Señor Frog

1. How do you like your eggs?
In my egg fried rice. I don’t eat it much otherwise these days.
2. How do you take your coffee/tea?
I don’t drink coffee. I have my tea with milk and two sugars. I tell people that I like it “weak and sweet”.
3. Favorite breakfast food?
Toast with margarine and marmalade. Preferably the marmalade is “shredless”. I don’t mind if the bread is wholemeal or white, but that off-white “best of both” blend is actually the worst of both.
4. Peanut butter – smooth or crunchy?
It’s got to be smooth.
5. What kind of dressing on your salad?
Um…I don’t eat much salad, so I can’t really say.
6. Coke or Pepsi?
I don’t mind, but Pepsi does seem to taste slightly better to me. And either brand out of a bottle is champion. My favourite soft drink is Kola Shampagne (which is non-alcoholic).
7. You’re feeling lazy, what do you make?
I’ll probably have a small bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes with cold milk.
8. You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?
I don’t eat pizza, though I made it once in Home Economics. If I have to go to a pizza place with friends I’ll opt for the chicken wings or pasta.
9. You feel like cooking. What do you make?
Mixed pasta with salmon and peppers, etc.
10. Do any foods bring back good memories?
The smell of my mum’s cake baking in the oven always makes me remember my childhood, when I would help her to make it then scrap the cake dough off the bowl to eat. She’d always tell me that it would give me a bellyache, but it never did. I still do it now sometimes, though I generally prefer to wait for the baked version
11. Do any foods bring back bad memories?
Horsemeat in Holland. I didn’t know what it was at the time, but I knew there was something funny about it.
12. Do any foods remind you of someone?
No.
13. Is there a food you refuse to eat?
Lots.
14. What was your favorite food as a child?
Jerk Chicken and Festivals, bought from a particular place (which no longer exists) in Jamaica. The only time I’ve ever eaten half a chicken…
15. Is there a food that you hated as a child but now like?
Not really, my taste buds haven’t matured much.
16. Is there a food that you liked as a child but now hate?
No.
17. Favorite fruit and vegetable:
I’m not a fan.
18. Favorite junk food:
Chocolate.
19. Favorite between meal snack:
Chocolate
20. Do you have any weird food habits?
I eat very slowly, I’m always the last person to finish eating.
I often eat half my dinner at home, and eat the rest later.
When I have a burger and chips, I normally eat all the chips before starting on the burger.
21. You’re on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on?
Pasta, bread. I’ve never tried the Atkins diet.
22. You’re off your diet. Now what would you like?
Um, a glazed ring donut would be nice.
23. How spicy do you order Indian/Thai?
Mild to medium. I like to taste my food rather than have my tastebuds scorched by fiery spices.
24. Can I get you a drink?
A lemonade will do me. If you insist on the booze, I’ll have a martini with lemonade or a Smirnov Ice.
25. Red wine or white?
No thanks.
26. Favorite dessert?
Coconut ice-cream, with a wafer.
27. The perfect nightcap?
Ovaltine or Milo. I know, how boring am I?

I’ve never had horsemeat, but my grandpa keeps telling me how much he liked dog meat. He lives on Guam and travels the Pacific a lot, and he’s eaten all kinds of stuff. I don’t know I’m quite so adventurous.
